RM of Wheatlands’s story
The Rural Municipality of Wheatlands No. 163 was incorporated as a rural municipality on December 13, 1909. It lies in the southwest part of Saskatchewan, and its office is on Rose Street in the village of Mortlach, which the RM surrounds.
The land here is where the Coteau Hills taper off into agricultural plains. The burrowing owl, an endangered animal, makes its home in the area. Parkbeg is an unincorporated locality within the RM.
Today the RM is run by an elected council and an appointed administrator, who meet on the second Wednesday of each month.
